Annual Leave (Vacation)
After six (6) continuous months of employment, full-time regular employees are credited with 40 hours of vacation leave and begin to accumulate vacation leave as follows:
7 months through 4 years 12 days per year 5 through 10 years 15 days per year 11 through 15 years 18 days per year After 16 years 20 days per year
Maximum accumulation for full-time employees is 240 hours (30 days)

Confidential counseling is available on problem issues related to work, alcohol and drug abuse, marriage and family, divorce, self-esteem, stress, grief, depression and other emotional issues. Up to five counseling sessions per issue are provided at no cost to employees and to their family members living at home. This applies to initial services only. Call 1-800-284-1819 for an appointment.
Holidays
The following holidays are observed in 2009:
New Years Day January 1 Martin Luther King Day January 19 President's Day February 16 Memorial Day May 25 Independence Day July 3 Labor Day September 7 Veteran's Day November 11 Thanksgiving November 26 and November 27 Christmas December 25 Holidays do not apply to Sheriff's Department. Since the Sheriff's Department does not recognize standard national holidays, this time is accumulated in the annual leave time earned.

180 day elimination period; 60% of your income;Premiums paid by the County.
Retirement Plan
Mesa County has a retirement plan (401A) through Colorado County Officials and Employees Retirement Association (CCOERA). Effective on an employee's hire date, the employee contributes 3% of their monthly salary vesting in the County's 3% matching contribution after completion of 3 full years of employment. Employees may make additional contributions to the deferred compensation plan (457).
Sick Leave
Full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of ten (10) hours per month to a maximum accumulation of 1440 hours. At termination, any employee over 960 hours will receive a pay out of one hour of paid time for each two hours of sick time up to 1440 hours. (1440 hours - 960 hours = 480 hours maximum = 240 hours maximum pay out).
Social Security (F.I.C.A)
Social Security is withheld beginning the first day of employment. The County and employee pay equal amounts of 7.65% each.
