• PROGRAM EXTENDED   "AmeriCorps NCCC Team Spreads the Word About Energy Efficiency"The Grand Valley Efficiency Alliance is challenging Mesa County residents to save 25% or more on your home utility bills, reduce home energy use and increase the comfort, safety, and durability of your home or business.  Community members can sign up online and find more information about the residential program at www.reddoorchallenge.com. Information about the business program can be found at www.greenbacksproject.com.
• Mesa County adopted the Industrial Development Design Standards on November 14, 2011.  These design standards apply county-wide.  A companion document, the "Industrial Development Design Standards Handbook, with Illustrated Guidelines for Implementation," was also adopted to help provide guidance in the application of the new Industrial Development Design Standards.  In conjunction with this amendment, the Whitewater Design Standards were also amended, to delete the Industrial Design Standards and refer to the newly adopted standards. 
• The Mesa County Planning Commission amended the Grand Junction Comprehensive Plan in October, 2011.  The Grand Junction Comprehensive Plan is a part of the Mesa County Master Plan.  
• The Mesa County Planning Commission has approved abolishing the now-obsolete Whitewater/Kannah Creek Plan  adopted in 1999.  The Plan is replaced by the 2006 Rural Master Plan and the 2007 Whitewater Community Plan as updated.    
• The Mesa County Planning Commission has adopted the proposed update to the 2007 Whitewater Community Plan.  Click on highlighted text for more information. 
• The Mesa County Planning Commission has approved the edits and updates to the 2006 Clifton-Fruitvale Community Plan.  Click on highlighted text for more information.  
• The Mesa County Mineral and Energy Resources Master Plan has been adopted by the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners. In addition to being the County's "Energy Master Plan" the Plan applies to all mineral and energy resources ("Resources" in the document) and updates and replaces the 1985 Mineral Extraction Policies.
• An amendment to the Mesa County Rural Master Plan regarding the Future Land Use classifications in the Buffer (Cooperative Planning Area) was adopted by the Mesa County Planning Commission on April 28, 2011.  Click on highlighted text for more information.
• Revisions to the Mesa County Master Plan's Future Land Use Map for "Urban Residential Reserve" in the Palisade and Fruita were approved by the Mesa County Planning Commission on 24 February 2011 in a public hearing. Click on highlighted text for more information.
• The Mesa County Register of Historic Landmarks has been adopted.  The inaugural County Landmarks are the Long Family Cabin, Old Mesa Gymnasium and Auditorium, and the Old Mesa County Courthouse.
• Mesa County adopts a new Landscape Code. Please see the  Landscape Handbook as a useful resource.
• Thank you to all who attended the recent Open Houses on revisions to the Future Land Use Map for "Urban Residential Reserve" in the Palisade and Fruita areas.

• The Planning Commission amended the Mesa County Master Plan this fall. The Rural Master Plan has been updated to correct errors, reflect current and ongoing actions, and to revise or delete some implementation measures.   The Future Land Use Map has also been amended in the Mesa vicinity and Whitewater.

• The Board of County Commissioners adopted the Bookcliff Urban Services Public Improvement District for the Clifton/Fruitvale area.

• The Loma Community Design Guidelines are adopted by the Board of County Commissioners.
