Notice:
Mesa County is excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new Customer Portal for planning, permitting, and code violations. While we are working diligently to ensure minimal impact to our customers, the migration will require that most of our system be down for three days

Automated Building Inspection Requests

Activate the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system by dialing 256-1564 (THIS NUMBER WILL CHANGE AFTER7:00am ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2021).

After the greeting press:

          1 to Request an inspection
          2 to Cancel an inspection 
          3 to Check inspection results 

SelecText Building Inspection Requests

We are excited to announce a new way of scheduling inspections!

SelecTEXT offers another easy option to schedule your builiding inspections.  Simply text the word SCHEDULE to (833) 883-8369 and follow the prompts (THIS NUMBER WILL CHANGE AFTER7:00am ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2021).

You can always back up one step by pressing the pound (#) sign. If you make an error or enter a code that does not exist, you will get an error message. If you request an inspection type that the permit does not cover, you will hear the message, "The inspection that you entered cannot be found." 

If the system is down, you will hear a message that either tells you the length of expected time it will be down or asks you to call the Building Department. 

Once you become acquainted with the system, you can bypass most of the dialog by entering the desired number before the dialog finishes. You cannot bypass the speaking back of the permit number and the address.

Refer to Inspection Code section for all Inspection Codes for Automated System.

To schedule an inspection contact the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system by dialing 256-1564. At anytime in the following process, you may press the pound (#) sign to back up one step.  If you make an error or enter a code that does not exist, you will get an error message. If you request an inspection type that the permit does not cover, you will hear the message, "The inspection that you entered cannot be found." 

After the greeting dial to Request an inspection.

After pressing 1, enter your permit number followed by the pound (#) sign.
          The permit number and the address will be spoken back to you.
          If correct, press 1. If not correct, press 2 and reenter the permit number followed by the pound (#) sign.

Once appropriate permit is established, press:
          1 for a Building Inspection,
          2 for a Plumbing Inspection,
          3 for a Mechanical (Gas) Inspection, or
          4 for an Electrical Inspection

Enter the two-digit Inspection Code. For the appropriate two-digit nuber refer to the Inspection Code section below or on the Mesa County Inspection Card. You may also press the * key to hear a list of inspection types.

Note: If the inspection you are requesting is a multi-type inspection, you will need to enter each inspection individually.

After entering the Inspection Code, it will be spoken back to you.
          If correct, press 1. If not correct, press 2 and reenter.

Next, press 1 to schedule the inspection for the next working day. Press 2 to schedule the inspection for two working days out.

If needed, you may now leave a message for the inspector by pressing 1. If you do not want to leave a message, press 2. The date of the requested inspection will be repeated back to you.

You may request to hear a confirmation number by pressing 1.Make a note of the confirmation number. If an inspection does not take place, we can track it down with this number.

If you need to schedule another inspection for the same permit number, press 2.

To schedule an inspection for another permit number, press 3. If you choose either selection 2 or 3, follow the steps above.

You have now completed the inspection requesting process.

After the greeting, press 2 to cancel an inspection. You will be asked to enter the permit number followed by the pound (#) sign. The permit number and address will be spoken back to you. If correct, press 1. If not correct, press 2 and reenter. You will be instructed, "Press 1 for a Building Inspection, 2 for a Plumbing Inspection, 3 for a Mechanical Inspection and 4 for an Electrical Inspection. Make your selection." 

You will next be asked for the two-digit Inspection Code (refer to Inspection Code section). Enter it. The type of inspection will be spoken back to you. If correct, press 1. If not correct, press 2 and reenter the inspection code. You will be asked to press 1 to cancel the inspection, 2 to reschedule the inspection, 3 to cancel an inspection on a different permit number or 4 to enter another inspection type. 

When you choose 2 to reschedule the inspection, you will be told the next day that the inspection can be rescheduled. If you wish to move the inspection to this day, press 1. If you wish to leave the inspection scheduled as it is, press 2.

To obtain inspection result for inspections scheduled through the IVR: 

Call the IVR number.  After the greeting:

  • Press 3, 
  • Enter the permit number followed by the pound (#) sign.
  • The permit number and address will be read. If correct, press 1. If not correct, press 2 and re-enter.
  • Press 1 for a Building Inspection,
              2 for a Plumbing Inspection,
              3 for a Mechanical (Gas) Inspection, or
              4 for an Electrical Inspection.
  • Enter the two-digit Inspection Code. The inspection type will be read. If correct, press 1. If not correct, press 2 and re-enter. 


When the inspection results are read, you may:

  • Press 1 to obtain a confirmation number.. After receiving the confirmation number you may hang up; or
  • Press 2 to hear additional inspection results for the same permit number; or 
  • Press 3 to hear inspection results for another permit number; or
  • Press 4 to return to the Main Menu. 

If you are trying to obtain inspection results for an inspection that the inspector has not yet made, you will hear the message, "Sorry, the results of the inspection you entered are not yet available."

To obtain inspection results on-line: 

Visit the eTrak-it website

  1. Change the “Search By” criteria to Site_Parcel_Number etc. (Due to a recent upgrade, other search criteria is not currently available). 
  2. Enter the parcel number and press Enter. A list of permits will appear that match the information you entered. 
    If you need to find the parcel number, you may utilize the Assessor's Information Retrieval System
  3. Click on the appropriate permit number.
  4. Using the “Tabs” at the top of the searched results page you can access the following information:
    • Permit Information- Under Review, Incomplete, Approved, Issued etc.
    • Site Information- property information
    • Contact Information- owner, applicant, and contractor information
    • Fees- fees paid
    • Inspections- inspections and the inspection results
    • Reviews- and additional information for the permit.

To print documents from the website

1.  Once in the permit, scroll to the bottom of the Permit Info page. Under “Attachments” you will find .pdf document files that can be printed from any computer. Click on the file you want to print. A copy will download to your computer files and you can then print the information.
