Mesa County is committed to making county government open, accountable and accessible to the public.  The County’s approach to the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) is an important part of its pledge to transparency to build trust with our residents.  These guidelines help provide the public with efficient access to documents and records pursuant to C.R.S. §24-72-201, et seq.

Mesa County Policy for Open Records Request

Mesa County has adopted a Policy for Open Records Requests.  Records can be made available for inspection at a designated office within Mesa County, sent via email or mailed to the requestor.

Mesa County can only provide identifiable records.  Please be as specific as possible so the records can be located.

Fees / Payments

Upon review of your request for records, a deposit may be required to complete the request for records with no guarantee of record retrieval or availability, especially for historical records.  If the request requires more than one hour to process, the requestor will be provided with an estimate to process the request.  A fee will be associated for any request for paper copies of documents/records. Note: Some Mesa County departments have adopted their own records policy and fee structure.
