Administration

Carry out policies set by the Board of County Commissioners, recommends management practices, supervises County Departments, oversees the budget and day-to-day operation of the County.

 

Animal Services

Enforces local ordinances as well as providing services such as housing misplaced pets, adoptions, education and more!

 

Assessor's Office

Provide equitable, accurate property values, information for real property parcels, assessment information and values.  We provide many useful online systems for researching property valuation and sales.

 

Building

Performs inspections, supplies permits, and current codes for building projects in our County, the towns of De Beque, Collbran, Palisade, and the cities of Fruita and Grand Junction.

 

Clerk and Recorder Office

Responsible for the functions of Motor Vehicle, Recording, Elections, Liquor and Marijuana licensing and Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners.

 

Clerk to the Board

Records and maintains the official records of the Board of County Commissioners' public meetings.

 

Code Compliance Services

Ensure land in our County complies with the County Land Development Code, and Public Health Codes.  Manage Code Violations reports.

 

Community Development

Administers the Building, Code Compliance Services, Planning, and Sewer or On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) departments. Provide inspections, permits, and current codes for building projects, Code violations, guidance for Planning and Development Services, and ensure proper onsite wastewater disposal in areas which are not served by municipal sewer.

 

Coroner's Office

Our office is charged with investigating certain categories of deaths, not all deaths in the county fall under our jurisdiction.

 

County Attorney's Office

Provides legal advice to the Board of County Commissioners, and upon the Commissioners' consent, represents County Elected Officials, boards, commissions and various County departments.

 

County Commissioners

Serve as the legislative and policy-setting body for our county government.

 

Criminal Justice Services

Promotes safer communities by providing a variety of monitoring, program and treatment services.

 

Detentions Division

Manage and staff the Detention Facility and are committed to maintaining a safe, secure, humane, and professional environment for those who are incarcerated here.

 

District Attorney's Office

In partnership with the community we serve, the 21st Judicial District Attorney's Office is dedicated to the pursuit of justice, the protection of victims and the prevention of crime.

 

Elections

Registrar of Voters.  Provide information and services for the Elections process such as notify, provide sample ballots, tabulate and certify election results, and voter registration.

 

Emergency Services Division

Primary functions are County-wide Emergency Preparedness, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System Coordination and Oversight, Wildland Fire Operations and Response Coordination, Search and Rescue Coordination, Land Mobile Radio Programming and Support.

 

Engineering

Design, construct, and administer all public infrastructure projects in order to assure a safe and reliable system for the benefit.

 

Facilities

Mantains County owned buildings with an emphasis on creating, maintaining and improving the County’s physical environment to ensure the functionality, safety and security of its physical assets and human resources.

 

Fairgrounds

Variety of facilities available for rent for your next event.  Indoor spaces to host a party or wedding, and outdoor equestrian facilities to host a horse or other animal show.

 

Financial Services

Serve internal departments in the areas of Budget, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Asset administration, Utility Billing, Cash Receipting, General Accounting, Debt Management and Procurement. The Purchasing division manages all significant purchases and requests for proposals.

 

Fleet Management

Support the functions of the County in providing services to the citizens. Provide and maintain equipment and vehicle assets.

 

Floodplain Management Program

Our program participates in the National Flood Insurance Program. Our goal is to supply information on flooding, flood insurance, flood safety, and floodplains.

 

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Mesa County GIS provides geospatial services to all county departments and employees. These services include digital mapping products, geospatial data analysis, data collection support, hardware and software support, training, and more.

The GIS department also directly serves Mesa County residents and businesses. There are a number of geospatial resources available to the public including our Online Data Viewer, Assessor Parcel Lookup Tool, and the Open Data Portal.

 

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is responsible for managing the employee life cycle (recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training employees) and administering employee benefits.

 

Human Services Agency

Mesa County Department of Human Services provides a multitude of programs and services to residents in the areas of adult services, child welfare, assistance programs and workforce development.

 

Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) department builds and strengthens connections that support our shared vision of a healthy and safe, prosperous, livable, and collaborative community, both among County employees as well as between government and residents. 

 

Law Operations Division

Team of highly motivated deputies, civilian employees, and volunteers charged with reducing crime and victimization in our County.

 

Motor Vehicle

Provides information and services for persons with disability parking placards, title, registering motor vehicles, off highway vehicles, special mobile machinery, and manufactured homes.

 

Parks, Landscapes and Open Spaces

You can find information about parks and related facilities throughout the county on our website. Please keep in mind the facilities listed throughout Mesa County can be located within local municipalities (City of Grand Junction, City of Fruita, and Town of Palisade) and are thus maintained by them. Some facilities maintained by our department but shelters are served through the City of Grand Junction Parks & Recreation Department.

Public Trustee Office

Our office processes releases of deeds of trusts and foreclosures.

 

Public Works Division

Design, construct, and administer all public infrastructure projects in order to assure a safe and reliable system for the benefit of our County. Administer Engineering, Fleet Management, Road and Bridge, Solid Waste Management departments and Floodplain Management and Stormwater Management Programs.

 

Purchasing

The Purchasing division manages all significant purchases and requests for proposals.

 

Recording

Records, maintains, and preserves land title documents, marriage licenses, manufactured home transfers, open records request, loans on real estate, wills,  applications for Marriage and Civil Unions.

 

Risk Management

Support and facilitate the acquisition of goods and services, while promoting fair and open competition to obtain the best value for our County.

 

Road and Bridge

Provide the transportation industry and the motoring public with a road and bridge system which is protected, preserved, and well maintained in order to maximize infrastructure life at minimum long-term cost and ensure a safe and efficient transportation system as per state statutes that regulate the certified road system.

 

Regional Transportation Planning Office (RTPO)

The RTPO plans for and funds regional transportation networks for those who drive, walk, bike, roll, take transit, deliver freight, or travel by other modes.

 

Septic Systems

On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) goal is to ensure proper onsite wastewater disposal in areas which are not served by municipal sewer.

 

Sheriff's Office

Responsible for public safety of our County, respond to 911 calls, conduct criminal investigations, operate the County Detention Facility, provide security at the County Justice Center, search and rescue operations, emergency management, and wildland firefighting.

 

Specialized Teams Division

Support the Sheriff's Office with teams for Honor Guard, Shakedown Team, Special Operations Response Team, Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Program, and Wildland Fire Team.

 

Solid Waste Management Enterprise

Provide residents with environmentally responsible and fiscally accessible waste disposal options.  Our facility includes the Compost Facility, Electronic Waste Recycling, Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, Landfill, and Materials Reuse program.

 

Stormwater Management Program

Manage a proactive Stormwater Program to improve the quality of runoff entering the storm sewer system and receiving streams. 

 

Support Services Division for Sheriff's Office

Handle specialized assignments in support of both the Operations and Detentions Divisions as well as other criminal justice partners and the citizens of our County.

Access available information on Survey Plat and Monument Record Search and Surveyor Deposits

 

Traffic

Provides the citizens of our County with a responsive transportation system to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.

 

Treasurer's Office

Our department's main function is to distribute property tax statements each year, collect property taxes, and disburse those funds to the local jurisdictions that provide our community the infrastructure we enjoy.

 

Victims and Witnesses Assistance and Law Enforcement (VALE) Program

The Victims and Witnesses Assistance and Law Enforcement (VALE) Program provides grants to agencies that assist crime victims in Mesa County, Colorado. Our website provides resources for applying and managing VALE grants, and information on the business and structure of our board.

 

Weeds and Pest District

Reduce the quantity and occurrence of noxious weeds, accompanied negative impacts on native plant communities, agricultural lands and public corridors in our County. 

 

Workforce Center

Offer complete, customizable packages that meet the individual needs of each business.  Provide assistance for Job Seekers  such as job search workshops, assessments, writing resumes, interview skills.
