What is the AngelSense Program?

The AngelSense Program is a safety initiative dedicated to improving the quick location and recovery of residents at risk of wandering due to conditions such as autism, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other developmental disabilities or medically induced cognitive conditions.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and recognizes the unique challenges faced by caregivers of individuals who are at risk of wandering. Through the “Persons Who Wander Grant” from the Colorado Bureau of Investigations, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is able to provide 22 wearable AngelSense GPS devices to individuals at risk of wandering. The wearable devices have embedded SIM cards with 4G LTE service that provide updated location information every 10 seconds from any distance.

Should an at-risk individual wander and become lost, the caregiver is able to send a link to law enforcement providing up-to-date location information. This expedites the process of locating and recovering the at-risk individual.

How to Enroll in the AngelSense Program

Caregivers and loved ones can submit applications through the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office website to begin the enrollment process. Once an application is received, law enforcement specialists will review the application and contact the caregiver to set up an interview to finalize the enrollment process.
