When you spay/neuter your pet, you actively manage overpopulation in our community and help ensure all pets have access to the five freedoms. Mesa County Animal Services partnered with local veterinarians to offer spay/neuter vouchers to qualifying Mesa County pet owners through Sept. 15, 2024, with the help of the Animal Assistance Foundation’s (AAF) generous funding.

The five freedoms are:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from discomfort

3. Freedom from pain, injury, or disease

4. Freedom to express normal behavior

5. Freedom from fear and distress

A spay/neuter procedure costs $25 with a voucher present at participating veterinarians. Keep in mind there is a limited number of vouchers for 2024, and the issuance of the vouchers is entirely at the discretion of each participating veterinarian's office.
