Winter is a wonderful time to explore Mesa County’s parks and trails with your dog. Remember to keep your dog on a leash in public spaces, whether enjoying a peaceful walk or playing in the snow. It’s not only a good habit; it’s the law.

Why leash up?

  • Avoid fines and tickets.
  • Keep everyone safe — two-legged and four-legged.
  • Protect our parks and preserve their beauty for all.
  • Foster a welcoming and responsible community.

Mesa County leash laws require dogs to be on a leash no longer than 10 feet in all City and County public areas and parks unless you’re in a designated off-leash space.

Enjoy the beauty of winter while keeping our community safe and our shared spaces enjoyable for everyone!
