Mesa County Animal Services and Grand Rivers Humane Society have joined forces seeking cat and dog foster homes and shelter supplies!

“The national issue of too many homeless cats and dogs in shelters has reached crisis proportions locally in Mesa County, Colorado, and recruiting more cat and dog foster homes is one essential solution to this crisis,” said Nan McNees, Grand Rivers Humane Society Board President. “Fostering animals is a vital component to addressing this crisis.”

Grand Rivers Humane Society works closely with Mesa County Animal Services, taking in abandoned cats and dogs and placing them in foster homes and then adoptive homes. Grand River Humane Society provides foster homes with any supplies needed to foster a cat or dog and pay for the pet’s crucial medical care provided by our veterinary partners. Foster homes commit to giving a cat or dog a safe place to rest, relax, heal, nutrition, and transportation to vet appointments and adoption events. As a foster, you provide the care and love, and Grand Rivers Humane Society takes care of the rest! If fostering is not an option for you or you have more love to give,  please consider donating dog food, cat food, non-clumping cat litter, newspapers, and blankets to Mesa County Animal Services.

"Mesa County Animal Services and Grand Rivers Humane Society have a long-standing close relationship," said Doug Frye, Mesa County Animal Services Manager. "Grand Rivers Humane Society spends countless hours volunteering at Mesa County Animal Services, and most of their adoptable dogs and cats come from Mesa County Animal Services."
