At the Feb. 11 public hearing, Mesa County Attorney Todd Starr and Chief Building Official Darrell Bay presented the first reading of Ordinance 008(D) to update eight building and construction codes to modernize them to the most recent editions — keeping up with current construction methods, technology, materials, techniques, and state requirements and creating a balanced and thoughtful approach to localizing the updated codes. The first legal posting of the Ordinance was posted in the Daily Sentinel on Feb. 1, 2025.

Residents are urged to participate in the discussions shaping Mesa County's building and construction codes and mark their calendars for Feb. 25, 2025, where a second reading of the Ordinance, a presentation on the amendments from the County Chief Building Official, and an opportunity for in-person public input will occur. A second notice will be published in the Daily Sentinel on Feb. 15, 2025.
