During the administrative public hearing on Jan. 23, the Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to reject Ordinance 16, which aimed to restrict travel in certain areas of Mesa County by specific vehicles.

This decision followed the first introduction of the ordinance on Dec. 19. Substantial community feedback that highlighted various potential impacts of the ordinance influenced the rejection. In response, the Commissioners are considering forming a working group to comprehensively explore the benefits and drawbacks of such a regulation on the community.

Any future ordinances related to this matter will undergo a similar procedure. This involves an initial presentation of the ordinance, followed by a period for public feedback before a final decision is made.
