During the Board of Mesa County Commissioners’ administrative hearing on Jan. 10, the Board unanimously voted Commissioner Janet Rowland as the 2023 Chair of the Board. Rowland succeeds Commissioner Cody Davis, who served as Chair in 2022.

“I am honored and delighted to work alongside my fellow commissioners, Cody Davis and Bobbie Daniel, to get things done to improve and support our community,” said Janet Rowland, Chair of the Board of Mesa County Commissioners. “2023 will be exciting as projects such as the Clifton Community Campus continue to inch closer to becoming a reality.”

Typically the chairmanship rotates among the members at the beginning of the year. The Chair of the Board presides at all meetings and signs all county orders. By law, this official has the right and the duty to vote on all questions before the Board unless excused by a standing rule of the Board or other Board members’ consent.

Chairman Rowland is an expert in working with community partners to address critical issues such as behavioral and mental health that affect the most vulnerable in our community.
