Mesa County has yet to announce a 2024 neighborhood cleanup start date and urges residents not to leave waste out on the curb unless they have received a direct mail notification of a cleanup in their area.

For 2024, the targeted cleanup area is between 32 Road and 33 Road and D Road to I-70. Mesa County is accepting proposals for this project (RFP 2403-24-NF), with submissions due by May 10. Following the proposal review and funding approval, the cleanup is expected to start toward the end of September.

In 2019, Mesa County began a neighborhood pilot cleanup program that rotates through neighborhoods in Clifton, Fruitvale, and Pear Park areas where code compliance violations are prevalent to promote a clean and safe community. The goal is to make a difference in the areas that need it the most before moving into other unincorporated areas of Mesa County in the future if funding is available.

The historical impact of waste removal across various neighborhoods contributes positively to the community's welfare and aesthetics. Here is a brief overview of the trash removed in previous years:

Mesa County's cleanup initiative has successfully removed over 1,062 tons (2,341,309 pounds) of trash since its start in 2019. As the program continues, we encourage residents to play their part by placing trash on the curb only when they receive a mail notification confirming the cleanup dates for their area. This ensures the efficient coordination and effectiveness of the cleanup efforts.

The cleanups are more than just improving the area's appearance — they help reduce crime and have a positive ripple effect throughout Mesa County by increasing pride in the neighborhood.

Mesa County Community Development remains committed to extending these cleanup services to more unincorporated Mesa County areas as funding allows.
