Celebration of educational excellence held for system-involved youth
Yesterday, the 10th Annual Celebration of Educational Excellence was held at Redlands Community Center, 2463 Broadway, to recognize the hard work and perseverance of system-involved youth in our community. This year, 37 incredible young people were honored for reaching educational milestones despite facing unique challenges.
Held in collaboration with dedicated community partners, this annual event celebrates the stories of young people who demonstrate what it means to be resilient. Whether completing high school, earning a GED, or pursuing higher education, each honoree has shown grit, growth, and determination.
“Congratulations to all the students who were recognized!” says MCDHS Executive Director Jill Calvert. “Achievement in the face of barriers is a sure sign of resilience, tenacity, and excellence. We also thank all of the individuals who supported them along the way.”
The celebration reflects a broader commitment across Mesa County to support youth on their educational journey, regardless of their circumstances. We are proud to stand beside these students as well as the mentors, caregivers and professionals who help make success possible.
