During Adult Protection Awareness Month, we recognize the critical work of Mesa County Adult Protection Services (APS) in safeguarding the dignity, safety, and well-being of at-risk adults in our community.

An at-risk adult is anyone 18 or older who is vulnerable to mistreatment or self-neglect due to physical or cognitive limitations that prevent them from securing essential care for their health, safety, and well-being.

APS investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment while also helping adults access services that promote independence, self-determination, and dignity. Types of abuse include:

  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Caregiver Neglect
  • Self Neglect
  • Exploitation
  • Harmful Acts

Beyond investigations, APS helps ensure long-term safety through support, advocacy and connection to community resources that promote independence and dignity.

If you’re concerned about the safety or well-being of an adult in Mesa County, call our confidential intake line at 970-248-2888.
