Don’t let the size of this invasive and highly damaging Japanese Beetle fool you. Mesa County is currently working to eradicate a population of Japanese Beetles discovered in the Appleton area of Mesa County.

Japanese Beetles feed on 300 species of plants, including peaches, grapes, and other fruits contributing to Palisade fruit and wine-associated tourism which brings nearly $76 million annually to the local economy.

County representatives will contact residents in the currently infested area in March to request consent to complete lawn treatments for Japanese Beetle grubs. Whether you’re in or near the infested area, one way to help fight the spread and protect our community is to tell your lawn care company to maintain your lawn with grub control treatment or apply grub control products yourself.

Thank you for your efforts in working together to protect our local economy from the threat of Japanese Beetles. To check the Japanese Beetle Infested Area Map or learn more about how you can help, please click here.
