Mesa County is finalizing the design for a future sidewalk and drainage improvement project along 22 1/2 Road and Greenbelt Drive aimed at improving safety and accessibility in the area.

The project is designed to provide Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant access to Broadway Elementary School, including new sidewalks and curb ramps. Planned work also includes drainage improvements and limited roadway enhancements along Greenbelt Drive. Construction is anticipated to begin in summer 2026.

While the project is still in the design phase, Mesa County is notifying nearby residents early to share information and outline what to expect as the project moves forward. Once a construction contractor is selected, the county will follow its standard public notification process and provide more detailed updates.

Additional information, including anticipated traffic impacts and construction timelines, will be shared closer to the start of construction.

Residents with questions or concerns may contact project engineer Erik Borschel at 970-255-7190 or erik.borschel@mesacounty.us.

Door hangers will be distributed to homes in the project area in the upcoming weeks. The hangers will outline the project scope and timeline, and include a vicinity map showing the affected areas.
