Mesa County purchases hot mix asphalt for road and bridge upkeep
May 9, 2025
Last week, during the April 29 public hearing, Mesa County Commissioners approved a $97,000 contract with Kilgore Companies (doing business as Elam Construction) for 1,000 tons of hot mix asphalt.
In this video, Road and Bridge Supervisor Matt Nichols explains how Mesa County will use the mixture when patching distressed areas and fixing rutted or dipped roads. Construction teams will also use it when cutting and replacing a culvert, keeping water out of the road to extend its lifespan.
This purchase is an investment to ensure Mesa County Road and Bridge has the proper materials to ensure a smooth ride for all drivers — part of our priority to keep our road and bridge infrastructure safe and accessible for residents.
