Mesa County Landfill to reduce two disposal fees at the beginning of February
Bringing your waste to the Mesa County Landfill will become more affordable following the Jan. 28 administrative public hearing, where the Board of Mesa County Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution for the Mesa County Solid Waste Management Division to decrease two waste disposal fees.
As a commitment to provide all residents with fiscally accessible waste disposal options, Mesa County Solid Waste reduced the compacted waste disposal fee at the Mesa County Landfill, 3071 US-50 in Grand Junction, from $42 per ton to $30 per ton and the loose waste disposal fee from $51 per ton to $32 per ton. Fee changes go into effect on Feb. 3, 2025.
"Mesa County is over 70% public lands, and we want to try to keep those places beautiful and nice," said Jennifer Richardson, Mesa County Solid Waste & Sustainability Division Director. "So hopefully, these low fees will encourage residents to use haulers that utilize the Mesa County Landfill and keep our public spaces clean."
