Mesa County Surveyor Scott Thompson has been named the "2024 Surveyor of the Year" by the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado (PLSC). This prestigious accolade is awarded annually to a professional who has demonstrated excellence in land surveying and has made significant contributions to the profession and community.

The PLSC, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to improving the surveying profession in Colorado. The award was presented to Thompson at a special ceremony on March 27, 2024, at the Rocky Mountain Surveyors Summit in Westminster, Colo. 

"It is an honor to receive the 'Surveyor of the Year' award from the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado," said Mesa County Surveyor Scott Thompson. "To be a land surveyor is to be a steward of accuracy and a chronicler of the earth beneath our feet, ensuring the integrity of land surveying."

Thompson's commitment to the highest surveying standards and dedication to service have earned him this distinguished honor. He started his profession in 1971 and was licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Colorado in 1981. Over the years, he has been respected and known for his meticulous work and integrity.

Thompson was elected as the Mesa County Surveyor and began his first term in January 2019. He was re-elected in January 2023 and is now serving his final term.
