Mesa County Treasurer warns residents about text scam

The Mesa County Treasurer’s Office was made aware of a text message scam targeting local residents today, April 30. The fraudulent messages falsely appear to come from the Treasurer’s Office but are not legitimate.

The scam messages include a bill amount and instruct recipients to check their email for more information. These texts are not from the Mesa County Treasurer’s Office, and residents are urged to delete them immediately and not follow any instructions provided in the message or related email.

The Mesa County Treasurer’s Office does not send property tax bills via text message. Official communications are sent by mail or email from mctreas@mesacounty.us. In some cases, residents may also receive legitimate payment-related emails from AutoAgent via no-reply@municipay.com, a trusted partner.
