Mesa County Department of Human Services is pleased to announce the hiring of Heather Nara as its new Workforce Center director. Executive director Jill Calvert had been serving as the interim director of the Workforce Center since September 2023.

Nara comes to the Workforce Center from Mesa County Department of Public Health where she was the Early Childhood Services Program Manager. She has been in regulatory work for her entire professional career and understands that rule enforcement has consequences for businesses, many of which are small businesses. A priority in Nara’s work, as an inspector and also as a manager of inspection programs, has been to set local businesses and their employees up for success by prioritizing relationships.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve businesses and the community in a different way,” says Nara. “It is this frame of mind that has led to my interest in this position. I enjoy leading teams and helping the team grow as individuals but also grow together so work is done efficiently and effectively. I know the experiences I have had and the relationships I have built over the years will also serve me and the organization well. I am excited to bring a fresh perspective that will embrace the past and also lead the way to a new future for the Mesa County Workforce Center.”
