About the Major Offender Task Force (MOTF)

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Major Offender Task Force (MOTF) was developed in 2020.

This specialized task force was made possible through grant assistance from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), with the further support of the United States Marshal of the District of Colorado and the local United States Marshal Service Office in Grand Junction, Colorado.

The Major Offender Task Force:

  • identifies and apprehends high-profile repeat offenders in Mesa County.
  • tracks all registered sex offenders in Mesa County.
  • works in close partnership with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest fugitives across the Western Slope of Colorado.
