Filing a Complaint
To file a complaint contact the pest district at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will need to know the land owners name, address, contact information, and pest issues. Your contact information would also be helpful in case we need to get additional information from you. (Your info. will not be shared with a third party)
When a complaint is filed, the Inspector notifies the property owner via certified mail, then visits the property to look for signs of pests. The Inspector may monitor the infestation using traps or visual methods. If an unacceptable level of infestation is found or if the trees are obviously neglected, a letter is sent informing the property owner of the situation. Control recommendations are given and the owner has 10 days in which to respond. The owner may accept the recommendations or choose to submit their own management plan to the Inspector. The Inspector decides whether a submitted control plan is adequate to control the pest and makes follow-up visits to ensure compliance.
If property owners refuse to comply with the recommendations for pest management, the Inspector can schedule a public hearing with the County Commissioners to enforce control. If evidence shows that the infestation is a serious threat to neighboring commercial operations, the Commissioners can authorize the District to have the trees sprayed or removed at the owner’s expense.
