In a public hearing held on April 9, the Mesa County Department of Human Services (DHS) announced the availability of $350,000 in grant opportunities through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program for the Community Investment Program. This funding, available from July 2024 to June 2025, aims to address a critical community need: eviction prevention.

This initiative follows findings from the 2024 Grand Junction Area Houselessness Community Strategies Report, which highlights the urgent need for support.

Organizations interested in applying for the grant must submit their applications by May 3, 2024. For those seeking to apply or needing further information about the focus of the 2024 funds, the application process, or any related queries, the DHS encourages contacting them via email at dhs-contracts@mesacounty.us.

The timeline for the grant process is as follows:

  • Request for Applications Issued April 15, 2024
  • Deadline for Application Submissions: May 3, 2024
  • Award Letters Sent end of May 2024
  • Grant Agreement negotiated June 1, 2024 - June 30, 2024
  • Grant Agreement executed July 1, 2024

This grant opportunity represents an effort to combat housing instability and support its residents facing the threat of eviction.
