Are you new to Colorado or registering to vote for the first time?

To be eligible to vote in Colorado, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18-years-old by the time of the election
  • A resident of Colorado for at least 22 days before the election
  • Must not be serving a sentence of confinement or detention for a felony conviction. Note: Those on probation or parole are eligible to vote.

    Identification Requirements

    • While you do not need to have a Colorado ID, Colorado Driver's License or other form of acceptable identification in order to register, you must produce this documentation the first time you vote.  
    • Thus, it is recommended to provide this documentation during this registration process to avoid needing to mail in a form of identification when you vote.

    3 Ways to Register to Vote or Update Your Voter Registration

    Register Online

    The easiest way to register to vote or update your registration is online at the Colorado Secretary of State's GoVoteColorado.gov website.

    • To register online you will need a Colorado driver’s license or Colorado State ID.
    • Be sure to include your email address for important voting and election updates. 

    Register by Mail / Email / Fax

    If you do not have a Colorado Driver's License or State ID you may register to vote by filling out a paper form. 

    Print the form, complete it and return to our office via email, mail, or fax.

    Registration / updates will take effect as of the postmark date on the form. (If the postmark is not legible, the effective date is the date received by the office.)

    Register In-Person

    Register to vote or update your registration year-round at Mesa County Elections office.

    • Open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • Monday through Friday (except Legal Holidays)  
    • We are located at Mesa County Central Services building, 200 S Spruce Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501 (West Entrance)

    Canceling or Withdrawing

    The Mesa County Elections Office cannot withdraw or cancel your voter registration over the phone.  You must withdraw your registration online or by mail / email.

    Visit the Colorado Secretary of State's GoVoteColorado.gov website.

    Requires either:

    • Colorado Driver's License number,
    • Colorado ID number or
    • Last 4-digits or your social security number.
