Criminal Justice Services is one part of a 1,200 person team making up the many departments and offices of Mesa County. CJSD has a variety of positions (not all positions are listed). Below are positions that are suited for a wide range of people!

Criminal Justice Officer (CJO):  $48,595.87 - $66,819.37

CJO’s are dedicated to ensuring safety by providing onsite and offsite security and coaching people on positive behaviors. Every day is this position is different and rewarding.  Our CJO’s work three shifts: Days, Swings, and Graveyards to provide around the clock security and coaching. Shift work is not the typical “9 to 5” and provides a rewarding and challenging environment. Staff work with a team and are always ready to support each other.

The CJO position includes a shift differential for both swings and graves.

Criminal Justice Specialist (CJS):   $48,595.87 - $66,819.37

Criminal Justice Specialists excel at customer service and work in our diverse community based programs.  CJS’s work hand-in-hand with our criminal justice partners in a fast-paced environment.  Communicating with clients and criminal justice partners is an everyday occurrence.   

Relief Staff:  $21.53 an hour

Still in college and need flexible part time work while getting experience? Stepping out of the work force and wanting limited hours? Relief Staff may be for you.

This position helps to fill in for coverage needs or can be used to back up other positions with data entry, file management, and supervision. Relief staff dictate the hours they are available to work or fill in providing them flexibility with a part time schedule.

Case Manager I:  $52,479.85 - $73,277.77

Case managers in our community corrections program have an average caseload of around 20 clients and meet with their clients regularly. Some case managers work with clients struggling with specialized needs. Case managers create individualized plans for clients and help to change their criminal behaviors and produce positive results.

Substance Abuse Counselor: $55,268.52 - $78,835.92

In our Summit View Treatment program, we employ on site treatment counselors with a variety of credentials in inpatient and outpatient treatment. Interested in obtaining your clinical certification? You can get training, hours, and clinical supervision while working as a Criminal Justice officer or Case Manager.
