The Mesa County Department of Human Services, established in 1936, provides multiple services to the citizens of Mesa County.

- DHS employs approximately 315 employees, providing supportive or direct services to clients with a $32 million budget.
- Of the $32 million, 17-19% is county share with the rest being state or federal funds.
Colorado is one of 13 state-supervised, county-administered states, which means that the MCDHS administers state and federal programs locally to Mesa County residents. These programs are administered pursuant to state and federal statutes and guidelines.
