Learn about our program

The primary goal once children are removed from their home is reunification with their parent(s). Timely permanency is defined as a child being in their permanent home within one year of removal from their home. Other permanency options that the court can recommend are as follows:

  • Return home
  • Permanent placement with a relative through adoption
  • Permanent placement with a relative through allocation of parental rights (legal custody)
  • Adoption (non-relative)
  • Legal guardianship/permanent custody (non-relative)

On certain cases, a concurrent permanency plan will be recommended to the court. A concurrent plan is an alternate plan in case a child cannot return home or the first permanent plan does not work.
