Local Public Transportation
Eligibility-Based Transportation
Paratransit service is available for people with mental and physical disabilities who are unable to utilize Grand Valley Transit (GVT) fixed route system. Only people who have been verified as eligible to use paratransit may use this service. Application required. Once approved, scheduling is also required. Curb to curb service within 3/4 Mile of Fixed Route Service.
Supporting Our Seniors (SOS)
SOS is a transportation service for homebound seniors 60 and over run through the ADRC (Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado). SOS provides seniors with one ride per week to doctor/ medical appointments or pharmacy pickups. This program is free and volunteer based.

Needs-based access to medical and supportive services for qualifying seniors.
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation
Non-Emergent Medical Transportation (NEMT) is a Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) program benefit for members who don't have transportation to medical appointments. Outside of the Denver metro area, NEMT is offered by local transportation providers. Health First Colorado members can also find out more by visiting the Health First Colorado NEMT webpage.
Sunshine Rides Medical Transportation
Passengers need to register which takes about 5 minutes by phone. Then they can Pre-Book or call for On Demand rides. To schedule, call a week in advance.

Located in Grand Junction, Colorado, Mercy Medical Transport offers a non-ambulatory, mini bus taxi service and Medicaid transit. Offers scheduled rides more than 24 hours in advance. Also accepts cash payments.

Shared Mobility & Micromobility
Bird and Lime operate fleets of e-scooters under pilot permit from the city. You can ride from 24 Road to 28 ½ Road and from Horizon Drive to the Fairgrounds. The easiest way to get started is by downloading an app from one of the operators. There are also cash and non-smartphone options, as well as discounts for low-income residents and students!
The City of Grand Junction is researching an EV Car Share program.
In 2020, the City of Grand Junction, in partnership with the Urban Trails Committee, facilitated creative uses of right-of-ways and multi-modal access to economic centers by installing 300 wayfinding signs to help guide bicyclists around the community.
The City of Fruita recently created four wayfinding routes throughout town to help guide pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The routes were created with pedestrian and bicycle safety in mind. The routes use off-street trails and roads with wide shoulders or sidewalks, as much as possible.
One Riverfront Trail System is a recreational outdoor trail lining the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers to create a near contiguous path between the City of Fruita, the City of Grand Junction, and the Town of Palisade. The trail consists of many different sections which include the Audubon Trail, Blue Heron Trail, James M. Robb State Parks Connected Lakes and Corn Lake, Junior Service League Park, Riverside Park, Watson Island, and the Palisade Trail section. A great outdoor escape, this trail offers up numerous recreational activities including biking, bird watching, fishing, walking, and jogging.
